John Lavan – I live in Yorkshire

Did you always want to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?
I turned to science as a teenager and only back to writing poetry at age 52 – when I re-married. It was love!

When did you first consider yourself as a "writer"?
This month – when I got published!

Do you work another job as well as your writing work?
Yes – I work as a Management Consultant.

A collection of poems that will make you feel alive – within the first ten minutes’ read.

Who is your publisher? or do you self publish?
Apostrophe Books

What can we expect from you in the future?  ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?
A poetry epic – I’m half way through it!

What genre would you place your books into?
Modern poetry

What made you decide to write that genre of book?
I have an avid interest in poems as magic spells.

How long have you been writing?, and who or what inspired you to write?
Inspiration comes largely from my son who has Down’s  Syndrome. He’s a super hero with magical talents.

Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? ie You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?
Usually I’m travelling on a train.

How do you come up with the Title and Cover Designs for your book/books? Who designed the Cover of your books?
The title was mine – after a dream. Cover design by Apostrophe Books.

What do you think makes a book a really good/bestseller?
Uniqueness and craft. Including magic also helps!

Have you ever suffered from a "writer's block"? What did you do to get past the "block"?
I wrote a poem about writer’s block!

Are there any hidden messages or morals contained in your books? (Morals as in like Aesop’s Fables type of "The moral of this story is..")
All my poems aim to get at some secret or truth.
