There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
MY REVIEW
Again I bought this book, Pure Bk 2 in the Covenant Series from Amazon.co.uk, as Spencer Hill Press had kindly sent me an ARC of Deity (Bk 3 in the Covenant Series)to read ad review. I cant believe how long it took me to find this series of books.
I really love this cover, the shade of blue is gorgeous and roses are my favourite flower. Roses are also Alex's flower too. The cover depicts a scene from the book, a rather emotionally charge and aether-charged scene. Ooo I so want to say so much about this book but seriously am reigning myself back so as not to reveal too much of the story and spoil your own enjoyment of the book.
So what does fate have in store for Alex in this book? Well lots of things of things are revealed...like...... the real reason why Rachelle fled the relative safety of the Covenant with Alexandria. Alex also has to become accustomed to being the other half of Seth. Of course Alex doesn't take to this development very well. It seems to Alex that everywhere she is Seth turns up too. Seth he breaks the rules and turns up totally uninvited and unannounced in Alexandria's bedroom!
It looks like the plan Rachelle told Alex is going ahead when Half-Daimon's managed to gain access to the Covenant. Alex has to go to the Council sessions to give her statement as to exactly what was said to her regarding the Daimon's plans. However is that really the reason they want her with the ministers? Who can Alex truly trust? It seems as though no one wants either Apollyon, everyone seems scared of what they are capable of now never mid when Alex becomes eighteen. So there are threats all over, Alex has to be careful about her words and her actions. There are certain people that would love to force a life of subservience and servitude on her or even worse kill her.
There's a new appearance in this book, it's Furies. They have been sent by the Gods. The problem with the Furies is they will kill everything they perceive as a threat, which included Alex and Seth.
Again this book is really well written so it flows really quite fast and makes it a real pleasure to read it. I read this book in just two sittings, I really did not want to put it down. You feel the angst and pain that Alex has to endure as well as the prejudice she suffers and the survivors guilt she seems to carry everywhere with her. We learn more about Seth in this book, though I have to say i do remain an Aiden fan!
So did I enjoy it? Yesss! Will I read more of this and other books by Jennifer Armentrout? Of course! Do I recommend this series? Yes.
