EVERMORE BY ALYSON NOEL
Sixteen year old Ever can see auras, she hasn't always had this gift. Ever received this gift after a horrible accident that claimed the lives of her family. With her gift Ever can also hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch. Ever goes out of her way to shield herself from any human contact and in turn suppress her abilities . This behaviour has branded her as a freak at her new high school. However everything begins to change when she meets Damen Auguste . . .
When Ever first see's Damen she feel an instant click of recognition. Damen is of course gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, but he also hides the many secrets he holds. Damen can make things appear and disappear at his will. Damen also freakily seems to know exactly what Ever is thinking and feeling at every moment. Damen is the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head. Ever has no idea who Damen really is or even what he is. Damen seems to be equal parts of light and darkness. Damen belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies.
This is the first book in the Immortals series by Alyson Noel and as such sets the tone and the scene for the other books that follow. I enjoyed the journey of discovery that we go on with Ever as she is at first puzzled by who and what Damen is. Damen seems to be good for Ever but he is also a guy with lots of secrets and plenty of danger following him around. Ever's gift is amazing imagine knowing people mood before opening your mouth to speak to them but then I imagine it would get annoying at times too and what would you do when they said one thing to you but you knew they were lying because of their aura and what you could hear in their heads! Damen does seem to genuinely understand Ever's gift and helps her learn to control it more. I couldn't wait to get into reading the next book in the series!
