Paige Winterbourne was always either too young or too rebellious to succeed her mother as leader of one of the world's most powerful elite organizations- the American Coven of Witches. Now that she is twenty-three and her mother is dead, the Elders can no longer deny her. But even Paige's wildest antics can't hold a candle to those of her new charge- an orphan who is all too willing to use her budding powers for evil... and evil is all too willing to claim her. For this girl is being pursued by a dark faction of the supernatural underworld. They are a vicious group who will do anything to woo the young, malleable, and extremely powerful neophyte, including commit murder- and frame Paige for the crime. It's an initiation into adulthood, womanhood, and the brutal side of magic that Paige will have to do everything within her power to make sure they both survive
MY REVIEW
Dime Store Magic by Kelley Armstrong
This third book in the series is centred on the character of Paige Winterbourne. Paige is a twenty three year old witch. Paige has always been too young or too rebellious to succeed her mother as the leader of the American Coven of Witches.
Now her mother is dead so Paige needs to step up and be the leader of the Coven.Being at the age of twenty-three the Elders cannot deny her right to follow her mother as the Coven leader, even though some of them may not like it.
However Paige's antics fade in comparison to those of her new charge. This new charge is a girl who is pursued by the dark faction of the paranormal world. They are a dangerous and vicous group who will do anything to get their hands on the girl. Paige has to use her magic to try and make sure they both survive.
I enjoyed this book when I got over the inital disappointment that it was not about Clay and Elena. This book is all about witches both the good and the bad ones, and paiges battle to make sure the girl she has taken under her wing does not stray to the dark side of magic.
