One month ago, Charlotte Vuk—Charlie—was living in a small town in Oregon with her mother, completely unaware she was next in line for alpha to a werewolf pack so steeped in tradition and rules that they banished her mother 17 years ago for being “the other woman.” Now, Charlie is here in Paradise to meet a family she never knew she had. And to compete for a title she never wanted in the first place.

Regan Vuk needs to be alpha—and fast. Her father has completely lost his mind; promising his daughter’s hand in marriage to their worst enemy in exchange for a peace the vampires ruined when they killed Regan’s mom is crazy. Regan needs to unseat him and bring order back to her people. Even if it means hurting Charlie in the process.

Charlie doesn’t understand why everyone hates the vampires so much. So far, Owen’s done nothing but help her. He’s the only friend she has, the only one who has taken the time to get to know her. But Owen isn’t the only one who sees her, and soon both girls realize there’s someone else out there against the idea of another Vuk becoming alpha. It might even be the same person who killed Regan’s mom. When they discover a vampire’s scent on their tail, Regan isn’t surprised they’re in danger.

For Charlie, it’s beginning to feel as if her world is crumbling in around her. For Regan, it’s just another day in Paradise.

INITIAL THOUGHTS
As I finished reading Bitterroot Pt1 my first thoughts were you can't be ending it there! So to say I was really eager to read more is a bit of an understatement!

MY REVIEW
As I think I have said before I am lucky enough to be part of Heather's Street Team "Heather's Hotshots" so was given an e-arc of this one in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to both Heather Hildenbrand & S.M. Reine & Elephantine Publishers too. I did begin reading as soon as it was available. I think it's fairly safe to say that I am quite addicted to this series! Even though the cover is exactly the same as for Bitterroor Part One this one, but for the purpose of this review and keeping it in the same format as other reviews, I will talk about my opinion on the cover now. The cover is a rich evening blue colour, and features a moonlit background. In front of the moon are two females, both wearing white dresses, whose joined hands are holding a beautiful bouquet of deep red roses. The female on the left (as you look at the book) is blonde, and her dress has straps on it. The female on the right is dark haired and her white dress is strapless. The title of the book is in a cursive font, that catches by eye. After reading the book I'd say that the two females on the front cover are very good likenesses of the females described in the book, in fact the cover image could be an actual scene from the book, and fits really well within the plot of the book that fit at the end of Part One, and from the beginning of Part Two.
Part two almost picks up right where part one left off, having said that there is a little recap of the situation at the beginning of this book.
So a little about the two main characters, Charlie Vuk, the werewolf shifter who knows nothing about pack life or pack politics but will soon be getting a crash course! Charlie has lived in exile from the pack with her mother until her father turns up and kidnaps her, informing her she has to dual against the half sister she didn't know she had for the title of alpha of the pack she has newly met and never knew she belonged with.
Regan Vuk, the werewolf shifter who feels she has the right by birth to be the next female Alpha. Regan has the support of the majority of the pack, has grown up with the pack so knows all the traditions and political nuances of the pack too.
This part of the book reveals the identity of the mystery man who Charlie has befriended. In fact this very same person offers to coach Charlie, to teach her to listen to her wolf and to help her learn how to fight for her forthcoming dual. No one from her actual pack has helped her prepare for the dual other supplying her with a book to read about the packs history.
I enjoyed the section where William Vuk the girls father and temporary Alpha takes a class on hunting, something we learn both the girls deal with extremely differently to one another.
It seems that Regan is of the opinion that she will win the dual/trials that are set easily and is trying to train with friend, former possible Beta, Carter, to learn a way to take down Charlie without going too far and killing her. Regan is totally unaware that Charlie is training hard as she wants to prove herself to the pack as being worthy as an Alpha and has no intention of going easy of Regan.
Regan even attempts to bond over "girly" time with Charlie. Regan shows an interest in Charlie's favourite type of shop, . . .antiques. The half sister's relationship seems to be improving, but there is always the looming dual/trials ahead and somehow keeps a wedge in place between the girls. During the time the girls spend together Regan reveals quite a bit of pack history to Charlie explaining how their pack became settled in this area and why.
There is also an unknown threat of someone following both girls too!
I love the friendship/possible romances between Charlie and her mystery man and Regan and long time best friend Carter!
We also meet the vampire Prince in this book, learning that though he may be a Prince that not all is well within his family either. Both girls meet the other vampires at the party. You can literally feel the tension between the two rival clans.
I also want to add I really enjoyed the writing style of these authors and would be interested to learn how the co-writing process worked and who wrote which parts. I would also class the two parts I have read as more short stories than novella's. I am wondering if the individual parts will be put together to form a full length book, I think maybe that's why there is just the one cover. I suppose it depends on how many parts there will be to this series. This series has oodles of potential and could go on for quite a few more parts/books. (hint, hint, please)
So did I enjoy the book? I an totally enamoured with this series! Even though Heather Hildenbrand and S.M. Reine ended this novella at a moment that made me want to scream as I wanted to read much much more! They both sure know how to do a cliff hanger. Would I recommend the book? Oh yes, an absolute must read for YA shifter fans! Certainly put me in the mood for more shifters and there whole unique brand of politics, Alpha problems, and territorial issues. Would I want to read another novella/book in this series? Most certainly! as soon as it's available please. (pretty please) Would I want to read other titles by Heather Hildenbrand, or S.M. Reine? I have already read other titles by Heather Hildenbrand such as Imitation, which I also loved! I do have some more of her titles to read too. I have to admit I have had one or two of S.M. Reine titles for a while and sadly not gotten around to reading them, however after reading this series I will be reading some of those titles.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Being totally honest here my first reaction upon finishing this short book was "You can't seriously be ending it here!2 and "What a place to end it, I want more pleeeeeease now!" I truly love this series. I love the writing style throughout the books, and adore the characters and where the plot seems to be heading. I already have my thoughts of how I want the relationships to progress between the sisters and between the sisters and their possible, potential other halves.
