MY REVIEW
I received this one from Jill Williamson as the copy sent to me by Netgalley was on epub at that time. I received the book free in exchange for my honest review.
The cover represents the books really well. I would say the male on the cover is Levi, though the man could be one of the other young Glenrock males I suppose. I think of it being Levi when he gains access to the safelands, staring up at their large somewhat over powering buildings. I like covers tat I can place within the concept of the book. The fontand colours of the title, series name and author name all work well placed at the top of the cover.
Now to the book, I admit to being pulled in and hooked almost straight away. The first line of the blurb is a really big statement in relation to the book, as One Choice made by a young man disgruntled at his father appearing to love and care for him as much as his brother does bring disaster to the village of Glenrock. Omar is always being ridiculed by his father as weak and useless, preferring to paint and be artistic tan fighting and hunting for his family. In a temper one day Omar comes across a Safe Lander. Omar seems to think all is problems would be over if he lived in the Safe Lands. Life seems so easy over the other side of the great wall which surrounds the Safe Lands. A plan is hatched . . .Omar agrees a party of Safe Landers should come to his village and persuade the people at Glenrock to move to Safe Lands. In Omar's mind all this will happen in a friendly peacable manner, however his decision to give away the exact location of his village as tragic circumstances.
The Safe Landers come to Glenrock, but they don't speak peacefully they take the females and young men by force any of the older males that get in the way are shot and killed. Even the village elder.
Once inside the Safe Lands walls the whole story about Omar and the safelander's is made apparent. Obviously the young males and females held Captive resent Omar and see what he did as betrayal. The only hope is Levi. Levi was not captured, can he get into the Safe Lands and rescue them all?
There's so much more to this book, like the plague the Safelanders have, the reason they need the young males and the women to help them continue their existence. I really could go on and on about this book.
The characters I liked a lot are Jem and Levi, their true love for each other that lasts the whole way through the book, no matter what is happening to them. I also like one or two of the Safe Lander's such as Bender, Lonn and Ciddah the medic at the Highland Harem where the women are coerced to stay and . . .well I can't say any more without spoiling the book which you must read for yourselves.
When reading this book a phrase came to mind "the grass is always greener on the other side" but will that be the case for all or in fact any of the Glenrock people.
So did I enjoy this book? Loved it, I really felt sucked right into the book, and really enjoyed it. Would I recommend this book? Yes, especially to those who love dystopian books. Would I read a BK#2? Yes please,I'd read Bk#2 now if I could! Will I read more by Jill Williamson? Yes, I have read one of her other books Replication which I also enjoyed lots too. So definitely will be looking out for more books by Jill!

COVER REVEAL! EXCERPT & GIVEAWAY - OF SILVER AND BEASTS - A GODDESS WARS NOVEL BY TRISHA WOLFE

Cover Design by Steven Novak
Expected Release Date: 1st June 2013
Pages: 302

BLURB from Author Trisha Wolfe

In the sand-covered queen-dom of Cavan, the goddess once saved a young Kaliope’s life, preventing the mercury her father attempted to hide in her blood from reaching her heart. Now, a cybernetic clamp filters it, but the silver streaks swirling faintly beneath her skin are a constant reminder that she’s different.

When nineteen-year-old Kaliope is chosen as head of the Nactue Guard, she becomes the sworn protector to her empress. In the midst of an invasion on a neighboring land, Kaliope is placed in charge of guarding Prince Caben, the last heir to his kingdom. But when they’re attacked by the feared Otherworlders, Caben and Kaliope are abducted and taken below to a realm where they must fight for their life in a caged arena.

Kaliope struggles to protect her princely charge, keeping him and herself alive while battling inhumanly opponents, and trying to save the stolen, sacred relic that will restore her empress’s life force and all of Cavan. And if she can somehow awaken the goddess within her, she may save what’s most important.

COVER COMMENTS
It's quite a picturesque yet barren land scene on the cover, and we are looking at the view that the woman on the cover is seeing. It's nighttime and that gives the cover a mysterious edge to it. I really like the font of the book title, with the arrows underneath, very olde worlde, which of course fits in with goddesses. The font being a silver effect colour also ties in with the title of the book. I like that the series title is also at the top of the book with the book title and the authors name printed more simply at the bottom of the book. The titles and authors name compliments the book rather than interfering or overpowering the cover as is the case with some book covers.
So would I pick it up from a book shelf to learn more? Yes I would.

EXCERPT
I open my mouth to say something comforting, but I’m unsure of what. In this moment, I’m reminded that I know little about him. Other than the sarcasm and desire to understand nothing of my queendom, he hasn’t allowed me past the surface.
But then, I have my own walls, hiding things I’d never want him or any other to know. And I understand that need to hide them. You can’t trust anyone.
“Caben…” I start, but still can’t find the right words.
He lowers his hand from his face, never taking his eyes off the glinting water top. “You’re right,” he finally says. “Let’s find the access to Lilly’s section.”
A hollow pang hits my chest, and I’m not sure why. Something in his voice sounds lost, broken. I imagine the gears around my heart spinning faster, trying to keep up with my racing heart.
When he sidesteps me, I reach out and grab his arm. “Caben, I didn’t mean—”
“It’s fine, Kal,” he snaps. “We have work to do.”
“No, I’ve said something to offend you.” I drop my hand, but keep close to him, not allowing him to leave my side. Goddess, trying to understand the male brain is harder than anything in protector training. I’ve heard people say that you have to tip-toe around a woman’s emotions, but a man’s ego is every bit as fragile, if not more so.
He releases a heavy breath through his nose and walks back to the pool. He sits down along the edge and rolls up his pants, then slips off his boots. “I honestly don’t think Bax or his goons will be returning tonight.” He sinks his bare feet into the water and sighs.
Glancing at the back of the cave, I plant my hands on my hips. We don’t have time for indulgencies, but the prince is still my charge. If it were my empress, I’d give her anything she’d ask for. Allow her as much time as she needed to collect herself. I have to watch over his mental state as well as protect him, so I try to push the pending need to find Lilly aside and sit down next to him.
“Here,” he says, turning his hand out near my crossed feet. “You have to feel this.”
A smile tugs at the corner of my mouth. “I can remove my own—”
“Have you never been pampered a day in your life?” he asks, lifting an eyebrow. “I know that the Nactue are fierce and will put a hurt on any man for touching them. But try to relax.”
“Is that the rumor in Perinya?”
            “What?”
I bite my lip, suddenly regretting my blurt. “Nothing. Never mind.”
From the corner of my eye, I see his lips pucker into a pinched smile, as if he’s trying not to. “Ah,” he says, like he’s made some great universal connection. “Well, there are many whisperings about the Nactue. Some I dare not repeat for fear I’d leave here missing a limb, but that’s one, yes.” He takes my booted foot and begins to unlace it. “I’ve heard that the empress’s protectors are untouchable—forbidden to give themselves to men. And that they’ll snap a man’s neck just for making an advance.”
My mouth drops open. Appalled, I counter, “That’s not true.”
“All right,” he says, as if he hasn’t just insulted my very existence. “It’s only rumors. Things men jaw about in pubs. The unattainable woman is a fantasy, Kal. Don’t be offended.”
“Unattainable?” I grit my teeth, trying to maintain my composure. “Tell me, prince. Do men in your country just go around bedding every woman they can in order to keep them compliant?” I shake my head. “If their fantasy is a woman that would have nothing to do with them, it seems to me it’s their way of feeding their egos after being rejected.”
His eyes widen. “No! How does your brain come up with these—” He bites off his words, his lips thin as he presses them together. “Look, it was a joke.”
I nod, many times. “Another joke. I’m glad that our hard work and sacrifice is amusing to the men of Perinya.”
Caben lets out another sigh and slowly pulls off my boot. His warm fingers skim my calf as he inches up my pant leg. “Just stick your foot in,” he says, then adds lower, “while I stick mine in my mouth.”
Unexpectedly, I laugh. “At least it’s now clean,” I say. “Would you like some help getting it to your face?”

Erin is positive she has seen the star, James Linkin before in a thirty year old TV show. He hasn’t aged a day. How is this possible? Erin is determined to find out, but how will James handle the scrutiny of an all too intelligent teenage girl?

MY REVIEW
I received this e-book directly from the Author in exchange for my honest review a while ago, and I finally got around to reading it. Apologies to Emma Meade for taking so long to get around to it.
The cover reminds me of an old fashioned movie poster, which really fits in with the book. I would say the young woman on the cover is Erin Harris. I really like the cover and think it fits the book very well. The blurb  describes the book well, and does tug on your curiousity to make you want to know more.
I did enjoy the book, it really is a case of James Linkin’s movie imitating his life at the moment, or is it the other way around? So Copperfield is a small run down, blink and you’d miss it as you drive through kind of place! That is until a movie crew descends on it, bringing jobs and money to the town as well as . . . . a dangerous predator? I can’t say a great deal more without giving away parts of the book you should read for yourself.
I like the characters of Erin and Nick, they are brother and sister as well as good friends. They are both similar in character. Both loners who are literally counting the days until they can get out of Copperfield. Could the movie help them escape Copperfield?
I enjoyed reading this book, the storyline is a good standard, and I think fans of the Twilight Type of romance will enjoy this book. The book is more of a chick lit style and is a light, it’s not a deep dark tale, which makes it an easy fast paced read.
So did I enjoy the book? Yes. Would I recommend the book? Yes for Twilight fans, and lover of chick lit etc. this book is ideal. Would I read a Bk#2? Possibly, if there is a Bk#2, the way this book ends the story could end here or maybe even be picked up and start again a year or so later. Would I read more by Emma Meade? I think I would certainly take a good look at other books by her so yes.

Insider News!
I have recently (since writing the above review) been told by the Author, Emma Meade that there will be a short novel coming out about Erin sometime in the summer of this year (2013). So keep your eyes open for that one, I'm hoping to be featuring it on my blog.

BLURB from Goodreads
Unemployed and living far from home, Gayle Lindley is nevertheless lucky to be alive after narrowly escaping her murderous ex-employer. She’s also thankful to the boyfriend gods for having blessed her with a former co-worker. Jon Cripps is brains, brawn and bedroom-certified, all in one delectable package. Life is finally on the uptick.

…Or so Gayle thinks until Jon pops the big question—no, not marriage, but meeting the rest of his family. What he neglects to mention is his loose familial definition also includes the parents of his ex-fiancée. And too bad Gayle has already met one sibling while engaged in a vigorous mattress inspection with Jon. Everyone will think she’s a man-stealing hussy!

As Gayle tiptoes into the bosom of Jon’s extended family, she is deluged with more secrets than even her curious nature can absorb. But the drama hits hardest when Jon, mysterious as ever, drops a bombshell that threatens to unravel every single stitch of progress she has made with him and his … ‘interesting’ relations

MY REVIEW
As I had read and really enjoyed The P.U.R.E by Claire Gillian I asked if there would be more in the series as I loved the characters of Gayle and Jon so much and wanted to know what the future held for them, and this novella gives us a little insight into that future. So when I knew there was a 1.5 novella available to read and Claire asked if I'd like to read it I jumped at the chance. Claire sent me a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
The cover depicts Jon and Gayle in a quirky sassy pose, and has pictures of family behind which refers to the novellas main theme of "meeting the family" I like the font and style of the title, and authors name too. I also love the little byline of "Time to meet the family. . . " as like I said earlier in this post that is the one of the main themes.
So the novella centres around the family of Jon Cripps, and starts with the thanksgiving dinner, which is a new concept as being from the UK it's something we don't have. Gayle is nervous about meeting Jon's parents and coming face to face with Jenny his sister after she walked in on them in the heat of passion. Gayle wonders or rather panics that Jenny will have told everyone about the incident even though Jon reassures her that won't be a problem. Then to worry Gayle even more Jon slips into the conversation on the way to his parents that their family friends will be there too who just so happen to be Thalia's parents. (Thalia is Jon's Ex girlfriend) Another theme going on through the novella is Gayle and Jon's relationship and where that is going. Gayle worries the relationship could be going to fast when she find a receipt from a jewellery store hidden in a crossword book in the Cripps bathroom and later discovers the puzzle book is in fact Jon's. I could go on and on but, I don't want to give up all the secrets of the novella. How can I sum it all up? I would say the book is all about relationships, Gayle & Jon's, Gayle's & her brother, Jenny & her boyfriend Scott, Jason (Jon's brother) & his somewhat stuck up girlfriend & Jason's best friend Tully. The list could go on so I suppose I could sum up by saying the book is about family & relationships.
So did I enjoy the novella? Yes, loved it, though it made me want even more of Gayle & Jon! Would I recommend? Yes to all who have read The P.U.R.E Would I read more of this Series? Yes please I want to know how all the relationships work out. Would I read more by Claire Gillian? Definitely!
