NEW RELEASES IN MARCH 2013!

So this post is just designed to share with you the New Releases that are coming up in March that we like the look and sound of! Obviously we will lean towards our favourite genres but we will also try to throw in a book or two that are not our own typical genre favourite's. I will also add a comment or three to let you know what I think to the cover blurb and reason for including in this post.

UNREMEMBERED
by
JESSICA BRODY
ISBN: 9781447221128
Publisher: Macmillan
Expected Release Date: 5th Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
Sixteen-year-old Sera is the only survivor of an explosion on a plane. She wakes up in hospital to find that she has no memory. The only clue to her identity is a mysterious boy who claims she was part of a top-secret science experiment. The only adult she trusts insists that she shouldn’t believe anything that anybody tells her.

In a tense and pacy novel exploding with intrigue and action, Sera must work out who she is and where she came from. Eventually she will learn that the only thing worse than forgetting her past is remembering it.
This book actually has more than one cover version, so I just chose the one I personally preferred. I find this cover eye catching and would certainly spot it on a book shelf! The blurb. . .hmm yes it has me interested in reading it. I think it'll be one of those books that grows on you as you read it. Which is a good thing as Rachel and I have an ARC of this one to read so there will be a review appearing soon.

THE NIGHTMARE AFFAIR
by
MINDEE ARNETT
(THE ARKWELL ACADEMY SERIES)
ISBN:9780765333339
Publisher: Tor Teen
Expected Release: 5th Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
Sixteen-year-old Dusty Everhart breaks into houses late at night, but not because she’s a criminal. No, she’s a Nightmare.
Literally.
Being the only Nightmare at Arkwell Academy, a boarding school for magickind, and living in the shadow of her mother’s infamy, is hard enough. But when Dusty sneaks into Eli Booker’s house, things get a whole lot more complicated. He’s hot, which means sitting on his chest and invading his dreams couldn’t get much more embarrassing. But it does. Eli is dreaming of a murder.
Then Eli’s dream comes true.
Now Dusty has to follow the clues—both within Eli’s dreams and out of them—to stop the killer before more people turn up dead. And before the killer learns what she’s up to and marks her as the next target.
I think this one could possibly appeal to the 12+ age range. The cover suggest a dark eeriness which I like. The cover kind of reminds me a little of the Neil Gaiman covers perhaps. It's a little different to whats out there at the moment in that the magic/power involved is that Dusty is a Nightmare who goes into houses at night and literally delivering people their nightmares! The blurb seems to give a simple plot idea, based at a boarding school for those with magic.
Yep I quite fancy reading this one! What do you think?

THE HOLDERS
by
JULIANNA SCOTT
(HOLDERS SERIES)
ISBN: 9781908844422
Publisher: Strange Chemistry, Angry Robot
Expected Release Date: 5th Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
17-year-old Becca spent her whole life protecting her brother from, well, everything. The abandonment of their father, the so called 'experts' who insist that voices in his head are unnatural and must be dealt with, and the constant threat of being taken away to some hospital and studied like an animal. When two representatives appear claiming to have the answers to Ryland's perceived problem, Becca doesn't buy it for one second. That is until they seem to know things about Ryland and about Becca and Ryland's family, that forces Becca to concede that there may be more to these people than meets the eye. Though still highly skeptical, Becca agrees to do what's best for Ryland.
What they find at St. Brigid's is a world beyond their imagination. Little by little they piece together the information of their family's heritage, their estranged Father, and the legend of the Holder race that decrees Ryland is the one they've been waiting for. However, they are all--especially Becca--in for a surprise that will change what they thought they knew about themselves and their kind.
She meets Alex, a Holder who is fiercely loyal to their race, and for some reason, Becca and Ryland. There's an attraction between Becca and Alex that can't be denied, but her true nature seems destined to keep them apart. However, certain destinies may not be as clear cut as everyone has always believed them to be.
Becca is lost, but found at the same time. Can she bring herself to leave Ryland now that he's settled and can clearly see his future? Will she be able to put the the feelings she has for Alex aside and head back to the US? And can Becca and Ryland ever forgive their father for what he's done?
I admit to not being immediately attracted to the cover, the big green gem is kind of ugly looking. Having read the blurb I did want to read the book and upon reading the book the "ugly gem" on the cover makes more sense and is actually called ugly and unattractive in the book!
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and definitely recommend it. I have read and reviewed this book and the review will be appearing on my blog as part of the blog tour 7th March, which I am told is the official UK release date.

WHEN WE WAKE
by
KAREN HEALEY
ISBN: 9780316200769
Publisher: Little Brown Books
Expected Release Date: 5th Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
My name is Tegan Oglietti, and on the last day of my first lifetime, I was so, so happy. Sixteen-year-old Tegan is just like every other girl living in 2027--she's happiest when playing the guitar, she's falling in love for the first time, and she's joining her friends to protest the wrongs of the world: environmental collapse, social discrimination, and political injustice.
But on what should have been the best day of Tegan's life, she dies--and wakes up a hundred years in the future, locked in a government facility with no idea what happened.
Tegan is the first government guinea pig to be cryonically frozen and successfully revived, which makes her an instant celebrity--even though all she wants to do is try to rebuild some semblance of a normal life. But the future isn't all she hoped it would be, and when appalling secrets come to light, Tegan must make a choice: Does she keep her head down and survive, or fight for a better future?
Award-winning author Karen Healey has created a haunting, cautionary tale of an inspiring protagonist living in a not-so-distant future that could easily be our own.
Wow I really like this cover, the frost on the face, which immediately makes me think of cryogenics and makes me want to learn more about the book.
Then to the blurb which yep the cover hooked me and blurb sure reels me in! I really want to read this one, it's futuristic, dystopian/post apocalyptic, right in my favourite genre zone!

REQUIEM
by
LAUREN OLVER
ISBN: 9780062014535
Publisher: Harper Teen
Expected Release Date: 5th Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
They have tried to squeeze us out, to stamp us into the past. But we are still here.
And there are more of us every day.
Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.
After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancĂ©e of the young mayor.
Maybe we are driven crazy by our feelings.
Maybe love is a disease, and we would be better off without it.
But we have chosen a different road.
And in the end, that is the point of escaping the cure: We are free to choose.
We are even free to choose the wrong thing.
Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.
I do like this cover as it matches the cover of my copy of Pandemonium! I am extremely biased as I have read Bk#1 Delirium, Bk#2 Pandemonium as well as the novella's Hana, and Annabel. The blurb is also great, as all the blurbs for the books have been. This book also features in my Pondering Purchasing feature. I think a lot of us book lovers are feeling the pinch and are having to wait for paperbacks rather than splurging on hardbacks no matter how desperate we are for the book. . . .

THE BANE
by
KEARY TAYLOR
ISBN: 9780615769806
Publisher: Keary Taylor
Expected Release Date: 5th Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
Before the Evolution there was TorBane: technology that infused human DNA with cybernetic matter. It had the ability to grow new organs and limbs, to heal the world. Until it evolved out of control and spread like the common cold. The machine took over, the soul vanished, and the Bane were born. The Bane won't stop until every last person has been infected. With less than two percent of the human population left, mankind is on the brink of extinction.
Eve knows the stories of the Evolution, the time before she wandered into the colony of Eden, unable to recall anything but her name. But she doesn't need memories to know this world is her reality. This is a world that is quickly losing its humanity, one Bane at a time.
Fighting to keep one of the last remaining human colonies alive, Eve finds herself torn between her dedication to the colony, and the discovery of love. There is Avian and West – one a soldier, one a keeper of secrets. And in the end, Eve will make a choice that will change the future of mankind.
The Bane is The Terminator meets The Walking Dead with a heart-twisting romance.
*Previously published as Eden, due to reader demand it has been revamped and re-released as The Bane: book one in The Eden Trilogy*
I expect the cover represents the main character, do I like it? Mmmm it's okay but upon reading the blurb I think it could have been even better. Once I read the blurb I was totally sold on wanting to read this one. From the blurb it sounds like it's my sort of book. As I have managed to receive a copy from Netgalley I am looking forward to reading this one a lot! So keep an eye out for the review.

WHAT'S A WITCH TO DO?
by
JENNIFER HARLOW
ISBN: 9780738735146
Publisher: Midnight Ink
Expected Release Date: 8th Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
A suspenseful brew with a dash of passionHigh Priestess might sound like an ’80s hair band, but its Mona McGregor’s life. She runs the Midnight Magic shop in Goodnight, Virginia, and leads a large coven. She’s also raising two nieces and hasn’t been with a man for fifteen years…until a handsome doctor takes an interest in her. But Mona’s life really heats up when Adam Blue, a sexy werewolf, arrives at her door. Adam informs her that someone wants her dead and he is there to protect her. Hell’s bells! When a demon begins stalking her, Mona has to suspect her coven members, and even her family.
With two handsome men and a determined demon after her, Mona teams up with Adam to find out who really wants her dead . . . and who really wants her.
I really like this cover, it's witchy, it's eery, and it has a wolf which suggests perhaps a shifter element in the book too. What more could I wish for? From the blurb it sounds like the book could be quite light and humorous, which is always great. I am reading and reviewing this as part of a Bewitching Blog Tours,so my review will be appearing on my blog 25th March.
Sadly I will be unable to review the book a it is only available from Netgalley as a epub file and due to a medical condition I cannot read for the length f time necessary to read on a computer.

MILA 2.0
by
DEBRA DRIZA
(MILA 2.0 SERIES)
ISBN: 9780062090362
Publisher: Katherine Tegen
Expected Release Date: 12th Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
Mila 2.0 is the first book in an electrifying sci-fi thriller series about a teenage girl who discovers that she is an experiment in artificial intelligence.Mila was never meant to learn the truth about her identity. She was a girl living with her mother in a small Minnesota town. She was supposed to forget her past —that she was built in a secret computer science lab and programmed to do things real people would never do.
Now she has no choice but to run—from the dangerous operatives who want her terminated because she knows too much and from a mysterious group that wants to capture her alive and unlock her advanced technology. However, what Mila’s becoming is beyond anyone’s imagination, including her own, and it just might save her life.
Mila 2.0 is Debra Driza’s bold debut and the first book in a Bourne Identity–style trilogy that combines heart-pounding action with a riveting exploration of what it really means to be human. Fans of I Am Number Four will love Mila for who she is and what she longs to be—and a cliffhanger ending will leave them breathlessly awaiting the sequel.
My initial reaction to the cover was "oh wow, look, at, that!" So safe to say I love the cover, its really eye-catching. The blurb makes the book sound promising and certainly piques the interest. I have requested this one on Netgalley and Edelweiss so hopefully will be accepted by one of them and have a chance to read and review this one. Another review to keep an eye out for maybe?

PRETTY GIRL-13
by
LIZ COLEY
ISBN: 9780062127372
Publisher: Katherine Tegen
Expected Release Date: 19th Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
Reminiscent of the Elizabeth Smart case, Pretty Girl-13 is a disturbing and powerful psychological mystery about a girl who must piece together the story of her kidnapping and captivity.Angie Chapman was thirteen years old when she ventured into the woods alone on a Girl Scouts camping trip. Now she's returned home…only to find that it's three years later and she's sixteen-or at least that's what everyone tells her.
What happened to the past three years of her life?
Angie doesn't know.
But there are people who do—people who could tell Angie every detail of her forgotten time, if only they weren't locked inside her mind. With a tremendous amount of courage, Angie embarks on a journey to discover the fragments of her personality, otherwise known as her "alters." As she unearths more and more about her past, she discovers a terrifying secret and must decide: When you remember things you wish you could forget, do you destroy the parts of yourself that are responsible?
Liz Coley's alarming and fascinating psychological mystery is a disturbing-and ultimately empowering-page-turner about accepting our whole selves, and the healing power of courage, hope, and love.
The cover does attract my attention the green colouring on the cover giving a sinister look. Then the blurb does back up that first impression. So this one has a scary edge to it. Again this one is on Edelweiss and have requested it, so not sure if I'll manage to get a chance to read this one.

THE ART OF WISHING
by
LINDSAY RIBAR
ISBN: 9780803738270
Publisher: Dial Books
Expected Release Date: 21st Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
He can grant her wishes, but only she can save his life.
Margo McKenna has a plan for just about everything, from landing the lead in her high school play to getting into a good college. So when she finds herself in possession of a genie's ring and the chance to make three wishes, she doesn't know what to do. Why should she put her life into someone else's hands?
But Oliver is more than just a genie -- he's also a sophomore at Margo's high school, and he's on the run from a murderer. As he and Margo grow closer, she discovers that it will take more than three wishes to save him.
A whole lot more.
This cover is so restful and peaceful to look at and certainly fits the title of the book. The first line of the blurb is quite cryptic, and certainly has you wanting to know more. I haven't read a book about a genie so this would be a new genre for me. It's available for request on Netgalley so who knows maybe I will get to read and review it!

IF YOU FIND ME
by
EMILY MURDOCH
ISBN: 9781250021526
Publisher: St Martin's Griffin
Expected Release Date: 26th Mar 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
There are some things you can’t leave behind…A broken-down camper hidden deep in a national forest is the only home fifteen year-old Carey can remember. The trees keep guard over her threadbare existence, with the one bright spot being Carey’s younger sister, Jenessa, who depends on Carey for her very survival. All they have is each other, as their mentally ill mother comes and goes with greater frequency. Until that one fateful day their mother disappears for good, and two strangers arrive. Suddenly, the girls are taken from the woods and thrust into a bright and perplexing new world of high school, clothes and boys.

Carey knows she must keep her sister close, and her secrets even closer, or risk watching her new life come crashing down.
Mmmm a mysterious girl on the front cover, and a title of If You Find Me makes you want to learn more. There's also the woods in the background to add more mystery. The blurb intrigues me even more and this is also one I have requested from Netgalley and Edelweiss, unfortunately I haven't managed to e accepted for a copy o this, which is a shame as I really fancied reading it!

GOING VINTAGE
by
LINDSEY LEAVITT
ISBN: 9781599907871
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Expected Release Date: 26th March 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
When Mallory’s boyfriend, Jeremy, cheats on her with an online girlfriend, Mallory decides the best way to de-Jeremy her life is to de-modernize things too. Inspired by a list of goals her grandmother made in 1962, Mallory swears off technology and returns to a simpler time (when boyfriends couldn’t cheat with computer avatars). The List:
1. Run for pep club secretary
2. Host a fancy dinner party/soiree
3. Sew a dress for Homecoming
4. Find a steady
5. Do something dangerous
But simple proves to be crazy-complicated, and the details of the past begin to change Mallory’s present. Add in a too-busy grandmother, a sassy sister, and the cute pep-club president–who just happens to be her ex’s cousin–and soon Mallory begins to wonder if going vintage is going too far.
I was immediately attracted to the "vintage" look of this cover. This book has more than one cover, and though I like both covers I have seen, this one is my favourite. It appeals to the hairdresser in me too! The blurb tell's us the book is set in the 60's which is an era of interest for me. I'd love to read this book. It has been on Netgalley and Edelweiss, sadly I was declined on both review sites so this may be one for my wishlist. I certainly find the whole cover and blurb package a desirable reading suggestion.

IMPOSTER
by
JILL HATHAWAY
(SLIDE SERIES)
ISBN: 9780062077981
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Expected Release Date: 26th March 2013

BLURB from Goodreads
What if a killer took control of you?
Vee Bell’s gift (or curse) of “sliding”—slipping into the mind of another person and experiencing life, briefly, through his or her eyes—has been somewhat under control since she unwillingly witnessed the horrific deaths of her classmates six months ago.
But just as things are getting back to normal, Vee has a very bizarre experience: she loses consciousness and finds herself in a deserted area, at the edge of a cliff, with the broken body of the boy who took advantage of her on the rocks below.
As Vee finds herself in stranger and stranger situations with no memory of getting there, she begins to suspect that someone she knows has the ability to slide—and that this “slider” is using Vee to exact revenge on his or her enemies.
This one is BK#2 in the Slide Series, I like the cover, the air of mystery given by the cover image and colouring too. I also like the byline on the cover too.
I do actually have a copy of Bk#1 yet to read. So will I be adding this to my wishlist? maybe...

So to sum up there are some really great titles due out in March. the ones I have chosen are just a small selection that have caught my eye, that I found appealing to myself that I thought perhaps you may also enjoy!

So don't be shy let me know (in the comments section below) which of the featured books you will be reading and what other titles you are looking forward to being released in March!
