AUTHOR INTERVIEW - DORENE SAGAR & ARMIN FELDMAN

What is your name, where were you born and where do you live now?
Dorene Sager lives in Milwaukee, WI USA and Scottsdale, AZ USA.  Armin Feldman, M.D. lives in Denver, CO USA.

Do you work another job as well as your writing work?
Dorene just retired.  She was a commercial real estate broker for 20 years.  Armin Feldman, M.D. no longer is seeing patients, however, he consults to attorneys on medical matters.

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?
The name of our book is: Our Mother’s Recipes, Carrying on a Tradition of Jewish Food and Jewish Recipes.  This cookbook is a compilation of recipes used by our mother.  Helen Feldman passed away in 1998.  While we were cleaning out her garage after her death we found several large bags filled with hundreds of her hand written and typed recipes.  We took many of the recipes we enjoyed growing up and put them in this cookbook.

Who is your publisher? or do you self publish?
We are self-published.  Our publishing company is called OSA Publishing.

Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series?
We are currently working on a new cookbook that will be comprised of our mother’s holiday recipes.

How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?
Our first cookbook took just over one year to write.

How long have you been writing? Who or what inspired you to write?
This cookbook is our first.  As noted, we wanted to share our mother’s recipes and good cheer with others.

Do you have anybody read your books and give you reviews before you officially release them?
This is our first book.

Do you gift books to readers to do reviews?
We are having a contest to highlight our book launch on February 1, 2012.   We are giving away a $100.00 Amazon Gift certificate towards a Kindle and two $50.00 Amazon Gift Certificates, and for Authors only they can win their choice of a video book review or a Facebook Author Welcome page.  People who write reviews and put them on Amazon, Goodreads, Shelfari and their own sites get 10 entries into the contest.  There are other ways to get more entries as well. Visit http://www.ourmothersrecipesonline.com to see how to enter the Contest and fill out the contest form. We are doing this rather than gifting books for review. While you are on the site
sign up for our Recipe of the Week Club and look at our videos.  We demonstrate some really scrumptious recipes.

Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?
Yes we do read all of the reviews.

How do you come up with the Title and Cover Designs for your book/books?  Who designed the Cover of your books?
One of the authors, Armin Feldman, designed the cover.  The title of the book was a natural.

How do you market/promote your books?
We market our book online with our website www.OurMothersRecipesOnLine.com.  We also use Google pay-per-click to drive readers to our website.  We also do book signings and speaking engagements with cooking demonstrations.  We also have been asked to be interviewed on TV and radio. Of course we are promoting our book on Amazon, and Facebook.  We have a brand new Facebook Page:  http://www.facebook.com/ourmothersrecipes. If you like the page, you will get access to our contest form mentioned above.  We are also promoting our book on a Virtual Book Tour.  The schedule of the stops is on our website.  We have demonstrations of some of our recipes on our YouTube Channel.  Once people see how fantastic they are, they will want to buy our book.

What do you do to unwind and relax?
We like to cook.  We enjoy all kinds of cuisines and learning new cooking techniques.

Which format of your book do you prefer, ebook, hard back, or paperback?
We prefer whatever format is enjoyed by our readers.

What is your favourite book and why?  Have you read it more than once?
I assume you mean our favorite cookbook.  We like the good old Betty Crocker cookbook for basics.  We both like Mario Batali’s cookbook, Babbo.  Cooks Illustrated also has several good cookbooks.  The Silver Palate cookbook is also excellent.

Do you think books transfer to movies well? Which is you favourite/worst book to movie transfer?
We think books transfer very well to movies.  We would love to be involved in a movie project based on our cookbook concept.

What are you currently reading? Are you enjoying it? What format is it?(ebook, hardback or paperback)
We are currently reviewing Tom Cilicchio’s cookbook Craft of Cooking.

Do you think ebooks will ever totally replace printed books?
Not for cookbooks.

Is there a book you know you will never read? Or one you tried to read but just couldn't finish?
Not really.

What do you think about book trailers?
Book trailers are a great idea.  We have 6 videos and are hoping for a cooking show.

Where can readers follow you?
The best place for information, new recipes, our Recipe of the Week Club, our cookbooks, our blog and our TV shows is our website: www.OurMothersRecipesOnLine.com.
