THE DASHWOOD HAUNTING BY ANN NYLAND

BLURB from Goodreads
Amy Stuart is a journalist and blogger for a paranormal magazine. She doesn't wear black leather; she can't kick butt; she doesn't have supernatural powers. But she does have one skill: while wearing shapewear and with her reading glasses perched on her nose, she can out-research the best of them, especially when her caffeine levels are high. When sent to England to write articles on Sir Francis Dashwood's Hellfire Club, Amy uncovers a link between the alchemist Nicholas Flamel, the nineteenth century occultists and the Hellfire Caves which endangers her own life. Can her research skills save the world from at least one dastardly killer? The Dashwood Haunting is the first book in the Amy Stuart, Paranormal Blogger series.

I enjoyed this quite short novel, I didn't want it end! In places it did get quite heavy on the details of the historical places but that shows that Ann certainly does her homework! There are lots of interesting historical facts packed into the book. I liked the character of Amy. I enjoyed the banter between Amy and her friend in the newspaper office Annette, especially when they are bitching about Monique! Come on every work place has a Monique! lol.
There were surprises about who was the good guy and who was the bad guy. Its a fairly light-hearted mystery with suspense, adventure, action and a little romance thrown in too. This book introduced us to Amy and her character as well as her work mate Annette and her bosses etc You could say this book sets the scene for further books as I am sure there are lots of adventures and scrapes and sticky situations for Amy to get into. I don't think Amy has seen the last of Declan either... I would certainly strongly consider taking a look at future Amy Stuart, Journalist and Blogger books.
A good short read! A book I sat and read start to finish in just the one sitting too.
