WILD SWANS - THREE DAUGHTERS OF CHINA BY JUNG CHANG
Wild Swans - Three Daughters of China by Jung Chang is a book about three generations of one family. The grandmother is a warlord's concubine. The mother is a young idealistic communist, both her and her husband are members of the Communist Elite and this book features their ordeal during the cultural revolution.
Chang (the daughter) was briefly a Red guard, she has also been a "barefoot doctor", peasant, steel worker and an electrician.
The book is also a record of Mao's impact in China.
This book is an unusual window into the lives of three women throughout the history of China. This book if gripping, at times moving and in parts even uplifting. It details the cycles of violence and drama that is endured by her own family and millions of others too.
This book is available from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk £5.89, Bookdepository.co.uk £5.88 and Play.com £5.89
