THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH BY CARRIE RYAN

The Forest of Hands and Teeth
In Mary's world , things are simple, the sister's know best and the guardians will serve and protect. The Unconsecrated will never relent. You must always mind the fence that surrounds the village. As the fence protects the village from the unconsecrated in the forest.
The simple " truths"  Mary knows are slowly falling away as she learns more and more about the sisterhood, its secrets, the guardian's and their power and the unconsecrated and the fact they never give up.
When the fence is breached , Mary's world changes forever, she must choose between her future and her village, between the ones who love her and the one she loves. She has to face the truth about the Forest of Hand and Teeth. Could there be a world beyond this village surrounded by death?

This is a dystopian style fantasy, and is quite different to anything else I have read. I suppose some would call the Unconsecrated "zombies" but they are not the typical movie zombies you come across. You learn that these unconsecrated had previous lives and who they were, what they lost upon becoming unconsecrated.
I found the book hard reading initially book eventually did enjoy the book, in fact I wanted to read the second book in the series straight away. There are patches in the book where you think "hurry up, something happen" or "get on with it" but it is still worth reading.
