Don't run from us, little bunny.
Amara is just trying to survive, keeping her head down while simultaneously trying to stay away from her pack’s territory and her abusive alpha father as much as possible. So, when she discovers that she has not one, but three mates and that they are all rogues, it really turns her life upside down.
The pull to them is strong, the desire to feel loved for once in her life even stronger. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t stay away from them and she is torn between giving in to her desires and doing what’s expected of her. If her father finds out about them, there will be hell to pay, but Drake, Zeke, and Knox? They can take care of themselves.
The real question is whether or not they can protect her too.
REVIEW
I think the cover of this book would certainly attract your eye and attention. I would certainly pick it up from a bookstore shelf to learn more about it. I love the book title too, it fits really well, referring to the rogue shifters as the “damned”
The main character is a curvy red haired female wolf shifter who just happens to be the daughter of Brad Vincent, Alpha of the Cedar Grove Pack. Amara doesn’t have a very good life, she’s quite isolated and most of what she has belongs to the pack and is controlled by her abusive father. The only thing Amara has that belongs to her is the small bookstore, called Between The Cover Book Shop, that used to be her mothers. Whilst locking up one evening Amara is cornered by a drug dealer/addict who wants the takings from the book store. Luckily for Amara just when it seems the man, who we later find out goes by the name Happy seems to be gaining the upper hand a trio of men who co-own and run the nearby bar intervene. Amara instantly scents that they are shifters, just not pack which makes them rogue shifters something her father despises. Amara and the males also realise they are all fated mates.
The three main male characters are Knox, Zeke and Drake. All three men have “pasts” and “history” along with their own quirks.
Knox has long blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes and he is immediately, overtly, explicitly flirtatious with Amara which to be honest she ends up finds amusing. Knox quickly dispatches Happy the drug dealer though he is a little irritated as that now means he will have to find another source to buy his drugs from now! As the book goes on you realise Knox is like an excitable puppy who goes full force for what he wants dealing with any consequences swiftly and lethally if need be as the situation arises.
Zeke is Hispanic with dark brown hair and deep, dark brown eyes, he is more subtle that Knox and comes across as perhaps a quieter more caring person. Zeke is so softly spoken and full of endearments. He is also the one who coaxes Amara to confess how abusive her father is to her and what her life is like.
Drake is the last of the trio, the tallest of them with dark hair and gorgeous green eyes. He is quite cold and stand offish. Drake is the one who holds out the longest, though he will give in to primal urges he doesn’t want the commitment or hassle of a relationship, despite Knox and Zeke developing their relationships with Amara.
All three men have piercings and lots of tattoos. Despite them being rogue shifters Amara can’t help finding herself attracted to them. It is mostly Knox and Zeke that pursue Amara over the next days with Drake holding back and kind of skulking and sulking about! All three men are endearing in their own ways and it would be difficult t to choose favourite. I loved the endearments that Zeke lavished on Amara when talking to her. I found Knox so funny and excitable and full of mischief. Even Drake though initially coming across quite cold and difficult had some great qualities
Amara knows she is treading a dangerous line having anything at all to do with shifters not from her own pack let alone three rogue shifters. When she is late home and late for the never-ending list of chores her father gives her, it’s not long before he literally smells that unknown males have been around her and calls her all the names under the sun and warns her to get on with her chores. Despite her reservations and attempts to end what is going on it develops further and becomes more serious with Amara deciding to leave the pack to be with Knox, Zeke and possibly Drake.
Amara decides she needs to see her father alone and tell him she is leaving and why. However after a late-night session with her three new loves she sleeps in and is late for a pack meeting. Brad can smell all three rogue shifters on Amara and threatens to kill them then gives her a severe beating. When Knox, Zeke and Drake see the state of Amara they are rightly so, fuming about what has happened to their mate, but it seems Brad has only just begun his onslaught, first causing trouble at the bar and then at the book store.
I adored the character of Amara the way she wanted to do the right thing by everyone and keep everyone safe. Even prepared to break her own heart if it meant keeping those she loved safe. I can identify with how Amara was abused, though mine was not by a parent it was a husband but it’s a feeling that doesn’t go away. Amara really was leading a double life at times, she had her miserable pack life, the only life she had ever known, wanting to escape but fearing the big step into the unknown. Then having a chance at happiness with not one but three men! A life where she is loved and appreciated and treasured. Yet still having her Alpha father hovering menacingly in the background.
My immediate thoughts upon finishing Claimed By The Damned were Great Shifter romance! I loved it!
Summing up this book certainly has its fair share of explicit scenes which despite me not really reading this “type” of thing because it was all part of an amazing plot with such intriguing, interesting characters. I enjoyed the plot and was happy with the ending. To be honest I would have loved this to be part of a series.
