AUTHOR INTERVIEW
Michelle Jester lives in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana with her husband, high school sweetheart and retired Master Sergeant. Together they have a son and daughter. She is a hopeless romantic and has been writing poems and stories for as long as she can remember.

One of her prize possessions is a bracelet with only a yellow, Rubber Duckie charm on it; which she wears every day to remind her to enjoy the fun and happy things of life!

What is your name and where do you call home?
Michelle Jester and I live in Louisiana

Are you a self-published / Indie author / Mainstream Published?
I am an indie. I have a publishing company and use imprints as well.

Do you listen to music or have something else that you use whilst writing?
I wear rings that have something to do with the novel I am writing. For example with Two Thousand Lines I wore three separate rings: a cinnamon roll, a dog, and a world map.

What or Who inspired you to start writing? And how long have you been writing?
My mom and dad bought me journals. They encouraged me to write as a form of self-expression and I fell in love with it. I have been writing for as long as I can remember.

What is your opinion of ARCs?
I love giving ARC’s and reading them!

Do you prefer e-books, paperbacks, hardcovers or audiobooks?
All of them. I like e-books because I can get a preview. I like paperbacks because they are affordable and I can collect them. I like hardcovers because I like to buy my favorites in them. And I like audiobooks when I have to drive a good bit, so I can still “read.”

Have you ever read a book more than once? And if so, what was it?

Do you have just one book you would recommend others to read?
No, there are so many great ones. In my quarterly newsletter I suggest five each time, because I can never settle on just one or two.

Where do you get your inspiration to write your books?
Mostly, they are just pop into my mind.

Have you ever read a book just based on its cover alone?
Yes!

Has book cover of a book ever put you off of reading it?
Yes!

What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 20 or less words, what would you say?
The title is: Two Thousand lines.  Summary: An inspiring and heartbreaking tale of abandonment, survival, and purpose. A harrowing journey of self-discovery and perseverance.

How do you come up with the title(s) for your book(s)?
I have most of the titles picked before finishing, however when the novel progresses sometimes the title changes, so I just go with it. Mostly though, the titles have been picked since I first started writing it.

How did you come up with the cover? Who designs the cover of your book(s)?
In addition to publishing and advertising, I have been a graphic designer for fifteen years.  I design the covers of my books. I get the ideas from different things. The painting on my cover of Two Thousand Lines is one my daughter did and since Olivia is a painter I think it fit perfectly.

What genre would you place your book into?
New Adult Contemporary or Women Contemporary fiction. It does flash back through different timelines, however it is truly about the now.

Which is your favourite cover of all the books you have written?
My first, The Funeral Flower, which is my daughter. After finding the manuscript for the novel in some boxes while I was moving into my office, she started reading it. She pushed me to consider publishing it and has been one of my biggest fans. So that one will likely always be my favorite.

Are there any book covers you would change?
No. I’m happy with them.

Do you have a book trailer? And what are your thoughts on book trailers?
I do have book trailers for each novel. I think they are important tools in marketing and can aid in gaining interest in the story for those that are solely visual people.
