Sometimes you are lucky enough to dodge a bullet...but sometimes it strikes straight to the heart without an exit wound. It rattles around, leaks out our trust, and brings us to our knees making us wonder; why the %&$@ did I date you!?

From the darkness of emotional and/or physical pains we crawled out and eventually found a way to dust ourselves off and carry on with life.

So let these stories serve as a guide, that all that glitters is not always gold. That the felling of the hairs rising on the back of your neck is a warning, a primal scream to let us know that some things are not as they seem. Trust your gut. Yes, some people are worth fighting for but others have somehow tricked us into seeing a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

With hindsight fully engaged, we can now see the clarity of our past and appreciate the lessons we learned in our very own happily never after.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

David Roraff

David is a chaotic mess that has a particular knack for the written word and getting into people's heads. Trespassing aside, he currently works two jobs, is father to two wonderful kids, and has multiple projects on the burner, stirred frequently.
This winter-loving poet and author lives in the land of cheese, beer, brats and lawless weather that is Wisconsin. He has only recently forayed into the world of writing as a true passion. Like madness, gravity, or a neglected '67 Shelby, it took this joker a little shove to get him started, but hopefully the push will maintain this knight's strength and words to keep him going for years to come.
A criminal justice major by trade and a mathematical-minded, role-playing, music and movie-fanatic, David is hard to pin to a particular genre or style. Then again, that might be part of his charm.

FIVE THINGS ABOUT DAVID RORAFF

ONE
I’ve had a knack for math, so much so I even do statistical comparisons as a hobby sometimes to pass the time and other times to figure out which item in a game I am playing is most economical for my character. To raise the stakes on this weirdness of mine, if I have a few adult beverages I can do complex math in my head. I’m a real hit at parties.

TWO
I am allergic to onions (some tolerance and not deadly) but adore garlic, maybe a little too much at times. And yes, you can have an allergy to the oils in onions. No, onions and garlic are not related as garlic is most closely related to lavender (thank you Alton Brown) actually, which would explain why I adore the smell of those flowers.

THREE
I have only been to the following places in my entire life: Wisconsin (born, raised and currently reside), Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, California (only twice), Michigan (Upper Peninsula only) and Canada briefly (as a baby). Needless to say I need to get out more in my life.

FOUR
I went to my first professional level sporting event just this year back in October. For being a guy, I am not much into sports. Also I don’t hunt or fish, play games like poker, go out with the guy much if at all, or get too crazy about cars.

FIVE
Despite my religious views, I am an ordained priest and with the proper paperwork filled out I could do the proceedings at a wedding. The thought of getting it all in order has crossed my mind more than once in the past few years.
